More News for the Summer Day Camp

Wow!! Not even a week has went by since we started thinking about the Summer Day Camp and so much has already happened.  We have passed out fliers, worked on the play ground foundation more, purchased a play ground and a lot of outside toys to go with it, wealso have put together a donation list that we need people to donate.

A way you can help is to go to the bullitin board in the vestibule and look to see if there are any items that you are willing to donate; pull off the note card with the items on it and keep it as a reminder of your committment.  Then go out and get the items and then bring them to the registration desk to turn them in.  We will be keeping a running inventory of the items that we are getting in and the items that we still need, so don't be surprized if you see the bullitin board fill back up again.

We will be passing out mor fliers on this Thursday, and going to the Chic-fil-a and to the Wal-mart in Villa Rica to pass more out and we will also have registration packets for people to fill out while we are out.  We will be working on the playground area through out the next few weeks and the new goal is to have it ready by July 7, 2011.  We are also praying that the drive way and the parking area that is between the Sunday School Building and the fellowship hall is finished by then as well.  July 15 and 16 will be work days for the church so that we can rearrange the church grounds to be ready for the Summer Day Camp.

We are still having a big push for kids to be registered on June 26 between services, and July 16 from 8:00 am until aroun 2:00 pm.  We will have several people in the vestibule around the registration desk to be available to help with any questions or concerns about what is going on that week.  Also remember that we now have it set up so that you can call 678-563-7149 for more info on the camp and to be able to leave a message to recieve a call for more in depth information.

We will be having a meeting about this every week for the next 3 weeks.  Pay attention to the bulitin to see the times.

Please pray for this entire couple of months and do what you need to do so that God can use you in a big way to reach out to the kids and their parents all around this community.

In last night's Bible Study we started the book of James and we were challenged by God to not only be hearers of the word but doers of the word.  In our group discussion we decided that we are going to try to start doing more for the furtherance of the Gospel.  As a group we are looking for avenues that would be feasible for us to help others with their needs in a winsome way and do the best that we can to spread the Gospel.

We mentioned a few different ways that we might do this.  Once a month we are going to try to reach out as a group to build our fellowship and to strengthen our capabilities of spreading the truth.  We mentioned going to the Nursing Homes to Volunteer and to witness to all that we come across, going to a jail service with another church to aid them in their ministry to the incarcerated, helping out at the homeless shelter, going to the youth detention center to see what kind of ministry that we can do there, and doing something with the youth.  We also discussed going and talking to the Mormons and to the Jehovah's Witnesses to see if we can shed some light on their misunderstandings of the scripture (of course God would actually have to do all the work - we would just be the vessel).

Then last night on the way home Heather mentioned to me that we should each have a personal challenge that we do each week.  I think that this is a great idea and I also think that on the next Bible Study that we have we should each share what we each did.  We can see how easy some tasks are and how hard others can be.  We will see our strong points and our weak points.  We should discuss if we had to go out of our way to do the task, if we were shy and had to build up a lot of courage just to attempt the task, or if we forgot or got too busy or was just too nervous to do it.  This is a good way to build our skills in witnessing.
So this week I want to challenge you to find someone to witness too.  Don't limit yourself though anyone will do.  Just get out there and witness to someone that you probably wouldn't witness to if you hadn't been challenged.  We will talk a little about it on this coming up Tuesday Night.  I can't wait to see you there.

Keepin you al in my prayers,

Gateway Summer Day Camp

We are just barely over a month away from our biggest youth program ever.  Wow I can't believe it is this close on us.  We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of help is still needed.  We are down to the final hours of preparation and it is becoming more and more needful that we get our pre-registration packets filled out, and turned in.

I want to thank everyone who went out with us yesterday to pass out the fliers.  I believe that we had a very good day.  It is not over yet on getting the word out.  We still need to pass out more fliers and we need to begin putting our adds in the papers and on the radios and any other source of media that we can.

I encourage you to try to get all of the registration packets back to us as soon as possible to help us be better prepared for this event.  We need all your prayers and we need all the help that we can get.

Keeping you all in my  prayers,
Cainan

Getting Back into the Swing of Things

It has been qute some time that I have posted anything and therefore I have a lot to say.  I have been a bit busy with the ending stages of my wife's pregnancy and with the challenges of a new baby in the house.  However I am now slowly getting back into the swing of things.  I ask for your prayers and for your support as I take on the new challenge of not only being too busy but now being too busy with a kid also.

I ask for your prayers for Silas also because I am not aware of very many babies that get dragged around as much as Heather and I drag him around.  Pray that he will learn to love it as I have.  Also on a more personal note please help me pray for his salvation.

Keeping you all in my prayers,

Prayer Request

Keep Marcus, Ben, and myself in your prayers as we search for the right way for our church to progress.  We are looking for a good domain and editor for a new website for the church.  We will keep you posted on what is going on with it.  We have a few promising ideas for this and hopefully we can have a website up and running by the summer.

Thanking you for your prayers,
Cainan
