Decisions to be Made About Moving Forward

First and foremost we have to decide that we want to move forward.  there are many areas in which our church can progress.  We have several physical things around the Church building that could use some attention.  We could use a little more construction in our Children's Church Chapel, we could use a new brick finish to our new Sanctuary, we could use some construction in our unfinished basement area, we could use some work on our parking lot (refinishing on the old and adding to what we have), and we could use a better place for our storage and distribution center for our Food Share program.

We also have some ministerial areas that could use some attention. We could use some more supplies for our Sunday School and Children's Church, we could use a playground to help attract younger families, we could use a visitation program (both to the shut-ins/ hospitalized and to the non church goers), we could use a website, we could use an Sermon on CD Distribution ministry.

There are a lot of things that we could use and a lot of things that we could do but if Gateway is going to make it we have to decide to move forward.  I have decided to do my part in Gateway progressing for God.  I hope you decide to as well.

Here is how we can do this on an individual basis.  We each need to...
you guessed it, pray to God and ask for knowledge and incite in to his will.  We also need to back our Pastor, he will make the final decision about what the church is going to do next.  However just because he will make the final decision about things doesn't mean that he doesn't need our help.

Last night Ben Tyre, our sound room tech, and I looked into what it will take to start a new website for the church.  We plan to put together a presentation with several options that we think are good for the church, some free, some not free, some fancy, and some simple.  We are going to do this and let Pastor Jeff advise as to which route if any he feels led that Gateway should take.

I would like to encourage you to think about something that you could help the church with and do some research and planning so that you too can meet with Pastor Jeff for his advice about what Gateway needs in whatever area of ministry you are trying to help with.  I just want to caution everyone that not every idea is a good idea and that Pastor Jeff might need to change a few of your ideas.  I promise that he will not intentionally do anything to offend you, but he has to keep in mind everything that goes on at Gateway.  Pastor Jeff will have to give an account to God for everything that happens here so we all need to keep in mind that Pastor Jeff is close to God, Pastor Jeff is as concerned if not more concerned about everything than you are. I want to encourage you to take into consideration how I know he isn't doing any thing to offend you by making changes to your ideas.  I know because he does it to me all the time.  There are very few things that I do at the church that I haven't already discussed with Pastor Jeff and that he hasn't helped me out with by changing a few things that I had in mind.

Again I want to encourage you to step up and determine that you are going to help the Church and that you are going to do it the right way, and that you are not going to take it personal if Pastor Jeff has a few suggestions to make your ideas better fit the path that God has Gateway Baptist Church on.

Keeping you all in my prayers,
Cainan
