This morning I was sitting around and just thinking about what is going on at the church that will be able to get every one closer to God. I know that I have been talking a lot about prayer and how it is the key to encountering God, and it is. However I think that there is more to it than just prayer. We all have to do things that keep us busy.
Pastor Jeff has planned a (not so traditional) revival for us in February. Each Friday night we will be having a service with a different local Pastor bringing God's message. I believe that we will all be closer to God if we get involved in the revival.
This doesn't mean doing something during the service but doing something in your Heart. To make a change in our hearts isn't easy. Here are a few things that we can do to do this:
come every night
invite someone to join us
pray for the preacher each night
bring what you've committed to bring for the dinner afterwards
Here are a few extra things we can do if we are in the choir or play in the band:
be there early
be in your spot either in the Choir loft or at your instrument ready for the service to begin 10 minutes before it starts
the band should play an upbeat song as soon when they get ready
know what we will be singing
come to our choir practices
and do not ever act in a way that may show that you are upset about something
do not complain about anything, but rather if you see a problem get with Pastor Jeff to see what he thinks is the right thing for each situation
I know that this is a lot of things that we can do, but if e really want a change in our hearts it isn't much. I truly believe that the more we do to make these services a success that God will bless our hearts. When we do these things our hearts will change and we wont even realize it until it has already happened.
